Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, projected as a likely contender to Narendra Modi for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, today appeared to rule himself out from the race saying he was concentrating completely on Madhya Pradesh.
“A lot of things need to be done and therefore, I am concentrating completely on Madhya Pradesh, which has become my family,” Chouhan said when asked about his name coming up as a possible prime ministerial candidate in party circles.

In a prelude to Assembly elections, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday distributed cheques for the purchase of laptops to students who have scored above 85 per cent in class XII and also handed over loan sanction letters to 90 youths to set up business enterprise.
The Chief Minister, who is seeking the third term, announced that the state government would next month distribute laptops to those students of private schools who have scored 85 per cent and above in class XII.

Former Madhya Pradesh finance minister Raghavji was on Tuesday arrested in connection with a sodomy case. Raghavji along with his family was missing since an FIR was lodged against him on Sunday.
Police officials arrested the sacked minister from the flat of one of his relatives in Bhopal and took him to Habibganj police station. "There was no delay in the case. He was arrested within 40 hours of the FIR being launched," IG Bhopal Range Upender Jain said.

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh is battling a fresh crisis after key Income Tax documents revealed that his last election campaign named operation 'Vijay' was financed by mining baron Sudhir Sharma. Mining baron Sudhir Sharma was a college lecturer until 2005. Sharma was raided by the I-T department in June 2012. Sharma allegedly made big fortunes after he started managing the affairs of State Mining Minister Laxmi Kant Sharma.
"It is now clear that for all the mining licences that Sudhir Sharma got, he amassed wealth and financed the BJP election campaign code named operation 'Vijay'," said Ajay Singh, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted on Monday that while in Uttarakhand, his state's rescue teams not only rescued MP natives, they also helped pilgrims from "various states", taking a dig at his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi who was heavily criticised after reports of him rescuing 15,000 Gujaratis from the flood-hit state surfaced. His tweet came even as sources said the Congress has advised its ministers and party leaders not to make comments against other parties and their leaders on Twitter.

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh is facing an embarrassment over a diary which allegedly names two senior ministers Rajendra Shukla and Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma getting huge pay offs. The dairy was recovered during raids on mining barons Sudhir Sharma and Dalip Suryawanshi in June, 2012.
Meanwhile the Congress has demanded resignations of both the ministers.
"The Chief Minister should immediately take the resignation of the two ministers, said Ajay Singh, Leader of opposition, Madhya Pradesh."

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch his re-election yatra on Monday. But ahead of it, posters put up for the yatra include all national BJP leaders but not his rival Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The posters depict LK Advani, party chief Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Chouhan will begin his yatra to seek a third term in office from Ujjain. The yatra is aimed at mobilising the masses ahead of the state elections later this year. It will cover 224 Assembly constituencies.

Madhya Pradesh Congress unit Tuesday alleged that the works conducted under the Bundelkhand package in the region were of poor quality.
In a letter to Panna district collector, state Congress unit spokesman Mukesh Nayak expressed disappointment over a dam, built at a cost of crores, that collapsed two days back in the region.

Gwalior: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is “humble” like Atal Behari Vajpayee and BJP wants both Chouhan and Narendra Modi “play a major role” in securing India an important place in the world, senior party leader LK Advani said on Saturday.
“Vajpayee implemented several developmental schemes including road network, but he always remained very humble and far away from arrogance.
“Similarly, Chouhan has also formulated a large number of development and welfare schemes like Ladli Laxmi scheme and Mukya Mantri Teerth Darshan Yojna, and implemented them successfully. Despite that I found Chouhan very humble, like Vajpayee,” Advani told BJP’s booth-level coordinators in Gwalior.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that he is not in the race to become the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and has ruled out contesting the upcoming Assembly polls there.
"I have no plans to contest the Assembly Elections from Madhya Pradesh and would remain as Member of Parliament. However, Congress will come back to power in the state. I am a worker of the Congress and I do not think that I am in the race," Scindia said here.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will begin his two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. He will be visiting state capital Bhopal and Dhar district.
Rahul will meet office bearers and block level party members in Mohankedha in Dhar district, and then proceed to Bhopal on Thursday, where he is likely to hold talks with members of the Congress Committee.
